Haruka Ayase, Masaharu Fukuyama ranked most eligible celebrities
Actress Haruka Ayase, 24, and musician Masaharu Fukuyama, 40, were ranked most eligible celebrities among men and women aged between 20 and 44, according to the results of an Internet survey by online dating site Match.com released this week.
While the suave Fukuyama is a seemingly permanent resident at the top of various rankings, Ayase’s down-to-earth personality and beautiful smile are thought to have won her first place in the survey.
In second place were 25-year-old actor and fiance of 21-year-old singer Ayaka, Hiro Mizushima, and the always-popular Aya Ueto. The survey was conducted between April 3 and 5 with 500 male and female participants living in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba.

Hiro Mizushima marries singer Ayaka
Actor Hiro Mizushima and singer-songwriter Ayaka announced Friday that they got married in February and that Ayaka will suspend her activities from next year to concentrate on undergoing treatment for Basedow’s disease. The 24-year-old Mizushima and the 21-year-old Ayaka, who goes by one name, got married Feb 22.
‘‘I thought I wanted to protect her, including the fact she is suffering from the disease,’’ Mizushima, who has appeared on television and in movies, said in a joint news conference. ‘‘I’d like to do my best for each of my jobs so that (my fans) can think it was good for me to have married Ayaka.’’ Basedow’s disease is a disorder characterized partly by excessive activity of the thyroid gland.

Oricon: wonderful smiles
Oricon conducted a poll of a thousand men and women, asking them which celebrities they feel have a wonderful smile. Actor Satoshi Tsumabuki ranked #1 on the list of men, while actress Aoi Miyazaki topped the list of women.

Drama ‘Gokusen’ to finish with film-length version
A film-length version of actress Yukie Nakama’s popular TV drama series “Gokusen” will be released in July, according to producer NTV. The drama is about a high school teacher (Nakama), who was born to a yakuza family, and how she solves troubles related to her students.
Last spring, the drama marked the highest average rating (22.8%) among other TV dramas. Popular males idols are featured in the cast of the drama series. The film will be the final episode of the series, according to NTV.
In an official comment, Nakama said, “I feel sad to think that the film will be the end of the drama. But I’m sure we’ll all finish with a big smile.”

Ghost Friends

There is a new upcoming drama on NHK ” Ghost Friends” staring Saki Fukuda and Takahiro Nishijima (from the band atack all around )

Fukuda plays a high schooler who can see ghosts as a result of a car accident. The story follows her growth as she interacts with the spirits she meets, and even falls in love with a young male ghost named Kaito.
Popular duo Yuzu has been tapped to provide the theme song for NHK’s upcoming drama series “Ghost Friends.” The song, a ballad titled “Aitai,” is their first for an NHK drama. The single is scheduled for release on April 22. It is coupled with “Mirai,” which is being used as the theme song of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama.
“Ikemen Sobaya Tantei”
NTV is producing a new drama series titled “Ikemen Sobaya Tantei,” combining comedy and mystery. The show features the same primary staff and cast as the network’s variety show “Horeyuke! Star Daisakusen,” which aired in 2007 and 2008.
The plot involves around Juntaro Higuchi (Naohito Fujiki fromHotaru no Hikari ), a good-looking employee at a soba restaurant (the “ikemen” in the title is a pun on the word “men,” meaning noodles). While working there, he is constantly asked to solve various cases. His supporting cast includes Katsuhisa Namase and Arata Furuta-Ganesha from Yume wo Kanaeru Zo and oh!!my girl
, who were also regulars on “Horeyuke! Star Daisakusen.”
“Ikemen Sobaya Tantei” premieres on April 4. It will air on Saturday nights at 12:50am.
Maki Horikita to play homeless girl in Fuji’s new drama
Actress Maki Horikita, 20, will play a homeless girl in Fuji TV’s new drama from April. In the new drama, which is not yet titled, Horikita will play a girl who becomes homeless due to her deceased father’s debt. She then marries a rich man who later dies of an illness, leaving behind six adopted children.
Horikita said, “When I saw my photo on the poster, my dirty appearance made me feel something that I had never experienced before.”

Masahiro Nakai, Aya Ueto to costar in Fuji’s new drama
SMAP member Masahiro Nakai, 36, and actress Aya Ueto, 23, will costar in Fuji TV’s new drama from April, the Tokyo-based TV station said Sunday.
The drama, which has not yet been titled, is about so-called “marriage hunting” (konkatsu) activities through which Nakai and Ueto try to find their future partner.
Meisa Kuroki, Aoi Miyazaki win All Nippon Producers Awards

Actresses Meisa Kuroki, 20, Erika Toda, 20, Aoi Miyazaki, 23, and actors Eita, 26, Shota Matsuda, 23, and Haruma Miura, 18, took out awards for best new performers for their roles in movies released and television dramas aired from December 2007 to November last year at the Elan d’or Awards for 2009. The awards were held by the All Nippon Producers Association in the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku.
Kuroki, who won for her work in Fuji TV’s “Kaze no gaaden” or “Garden of Wind” said on receiving the award: “I’ve never been happier. I’ve worked hard on my acting this past year.”
Kuroki is in a relationship with musician KEN, who lives in New York. “I hope he hears about this award,” she said. She also said with a smile that she hadn’t thought about sending KEN chocolates for Valentine’s Day.
